Dearness Allowance (D.A) for Central Government Employees from July 2010

June 14, 2010 G. Buvaneswari

All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the past four month have been published in Labour Bureau website.

All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) on base 2001=100 for the month of  April, 2010 remained stationary at 170 (one hundred and seventy). For the past three months from February 2010 to April 2010, the All India Consumer Price Index Number for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) remained stationary at 170.The consumer Price Index Number(CPI-IW) for the month of January 2010 was 172.and the CPI-IW for the month of May and June yet to be announced.

Hence it is very much earlier to predict the D.A hike for the period of July 2010 to December 2010.But it is expected that for the remaining two months (May and June) the CPI-IW Number will be at 170 to 171.If the official CPI-IW index published by Labour Bureau, Department of Statistics, goes along with our expectation for the remaining two months.

Findout the calculation and try yourself with the help of calculator. But you are lucky enough to get 7% D.A from January 2011, which will be announced by government after 15th of March 2011.
    Jan-172,Feb-170,Mar-170,,Apr-170,May-172,Jun-174,Jul-178,Aug-178,Sep-179,Oct-181,Nov-182,Dec-185. DA=[(2111/12)-115.76]*100/115.76=51.966. This 6.966 will be round3ed to 7%. It means 45+7 = 52% from January 2011 onwards. Happy D.A . C.J.Mathews Sankarathil.MBA

  22. BALACHANDRAN NAIR says

    September 12, 2010 at 16:29

All central govt employees and pensioners are very much interested to know the rate of DA/DR whether it is 44 % or 45%. All what I can say is that to recall the bill passed in the Parliament about the increase in the pay and perks of our beloved MPs of both the houses. Then think of DA/DR. It is only an eye wash. Whether any commission required to enhance their salary by about 300%. Whether an employee’s(including soldiers) service is less than that of those of MPs?

  23. Pawan Sobti says

    September 12, 2010 at 10:10

Hai there Rakesh the answer to your query is ——-Though there won’t be any mergers of DA reaching 50% with Band Pay + Grade Pay but sure enough whenever DA gets hiked up to 50%, In its wake it will give additional Increase of 25% to Children Education Allowance, Child Care Allowance, Washing Allowance, Cycle Allowance, Cash Handling Allowance, Conveyance Allowance, Split Duty Allowance. Some of the Advances too namely – Flood Advance, Festival Advance also be witnessing 25%age hike.

Thank goodness subsidies , Interest free loans waivers and what not at least farmers are not ignored but well cared for in most agricultural states of India .Now if the rain Gods play havoc why Government must be blamed and whoever on these posts shows concern about Farmers plight is though quite on a positive humanitarian note but first must appreciate the fact of the facts that since ours is a country with a slogan JAI JAWAN JAI KISSAN it is this slogan that has meaning and depth and if plight of Jawans is heard then equally farmers too are heard and their welfare looked after. And if there is monster of an inflation spiralling and eating in to our economy then there are safe measures which the GOVT IS WELL ACCUSTOMED to and on the defensive right from the word ‘go’ ………..Here is tale of common man the end sufferer and if any one thinks that Government Servants who are salaried and do not fall in that category at all beside all this talk about DA leaving a dent on economy , putting extra burden are simply going berserk and must know that this is how the Government compensates who too is a common and it is not much for the asking .At most times this compensation IS IN PALE CONTRAST TO THE ever skyrocketing prices .with inflation out of control to the point of no return to normalization Demand by the Govt Servant is ever so much more justified .Infact in my point of view how about Govt giving a thought about revising DA every quarter of a calendar year what do you comrades ?

  33. bhanu pratap singh says

    September 8, 2010 at 10:59

keeping in view the steep rise in the essential commodities and the petro products it’s justified that the cabinet gives nod to a minimum of 10% hike inthe DA which will still be inadequate for the low salaried employees.

  53. Baburaj says

    August 19, 2010 at 20:56

As the price rise goes up & up, the DA though it based on the CPI-IW which is connected to the price index, is just adequate to meet the requirements of the Governement Employees. But I do not think it is more. But of course reasonable. At the same time, we should consider the poor people’s difficulties how can they manage the rising prices. But being salaried employees, we can only think of our problems and even a 10% hike in DA would be sufficient? At this time of crisis, the management is going to be a tough one. I believe most of the Govt.employees would be satisfied with the declaration of 10% hike in DA

Gvernment has already allowed central public sector undertakings (PSUs) to pay their employees 50 per cent DA with their basic salary in line with the earlier announcement for central government employees. But the new decision comes with a rider that profitable PSUs will have to meet any extra funds required to meet this proposal from their internal resources Now those PSUs which are unable to pay that much simply are not profiting and when no profits comin many of the PSUs will not pay that extra allowance because these PSUs want quotient of profit added to their NAVs thern they can think about 50% disbursement which hardly is the case anywhere

Speedy hikes in DA, my dear g.servants, will only hamper life of citizens in the un-organzed sectors. We, being in organized sectors, need not worry about ourselves with regard to price rises, but to fight for them against price rise. We should try make every thing organised and bring more citizens into organized. There should be a mechanism to distribute the wealth to the needy by way of subsidized prices to the needy, a mechanism that is being followed by even well developed nations. Then only the unrest the poor will be reduced to some extent.

i hope, DA will increase 40% on exsting DA,

  91. S.Basu Roy Chowdhury says

    July 24, 2010 at 01:14

D.A hike from July 2010 must be at least 10% but not 9% because the inflation rate is above 16%,I predict & the CPI is also camouflaged to some extent. However this situation is detrimental towards the equilibrium of our countries economy.

  92. R.S. Mehar says

    I am happy because 9 % D A enough .

  93. manash says

    July 23, 2010 at 21:02

D.A. Effective from JULY 2010 must be not less than 10% consedaring the abnormal increase of the prise of essential commodities.

yes, if D.A. will be raised up by 9% then it would get some relief to central government employees due to extra ordinary inflation.

  96. manoj gulati says

    July 22, 2010 at 21:09

if 10% DA will declared by the govt that will be good for all of govt employees because the inflation rate is very high

  97. Munish says

    July 22, 2010 at 15:25

The 9% and more DA increase from July 2010 will be justified and it will give relief to the Central Govt. employees. We must thanks to the Government for compansating with price hike and giving this DA.

it is really not enough DA increase at the current situation where we have to expand 30 Rs. for one kg rice. the better to see the reduce of essential elements price by gov but they are………

  100. HITESH GOYAL says

    July 21, 2010 at 19:21

Expected DA from July 2010 would be 9% as per the consumer price index. However it is too earlier to reach any correct conclusion about the increasing of DA from July 2010 without declaring Consumer Price Index for the month of May and June 2010. Therefore just wait and hope about atleast 9% expected DA from July 2010.

Why DA is not declared immediately on1st Jan and 1St July. Should somebody remind the Government of beg.

  103. Gyan says

    July 21, 2010 at 07:30

In the present hike of prices of essential commodities, educational expenses and medical requirements, atleast 12% hike in DA is must.

  104. S.SIVAKUMAR says

    July 20, 2010 at 21:09

If the DA is 9% Govt employees may be happy. Just think about the increase after announcement of the DA wef 1/7/10 and the other poor people. So pressurise the Govt to take steps to reduce the price escalations instead of giving more and more DA.

  105. Ganesh Kathayat says

Govt. hike salaries their staff as DA two times in a year and a times of increment but Govt. should also increase salaries for private worker for healthy living otherwise no matter ralates to hike salaries their staff. The best option is control over dearnes. Dearness is effecting our life. If Govt. control dearness than hike salaries their staff and staff will be happy.

  108. APURBA says

    July 13, 2010 at 16:58

As the price increases so heavily the Govt. should take initiative to increase the DA at least 12 to 15 percent…otherwise it will be not possible to leave heapily.

  113. RAMU says

    July 3, 2010 at 17:40

better prices are reduced and education is provided to children 0f government servants upto any stage, than going on hiking salaries,so that a common person is not affected.

  114. Vicky says

    July 2, 2010 at 21:03

DA will be 9% & not more than that. There is nothing to be happy about that, low DA or no DA will result in rise in our real Incomes

  115. VIJAY says

    June 29, 2010 at 12:22

If it will be 9%, i will be very happy

  116. P.Krishnakumar says

    June 27, 2010 at 21:40

Surely the increase will be 10%, if not less. It may even exceed 12% given the price situation that too in aftermath of the petroleum and diesel price hike. This will have a cascading effect on the price front and the Govt. will be left in the lurch to parry the opposition, why, its own ministers criticism. Hence the CGE unions should be watchful if there is any move on the part of the centre to tamper the price index statistics.
