World Disabilities Day
International Day of People with Disability(IDPD) is celebrated worldwide on the Day of December 3rd of Every year from 1992. A statistics revealed that Over one billion people, or approximately 15 per cent of the world’s population, live with some form of disability. The community of Persons with disabilities may even be called “the world’s largest minority”, It is observed that this community often face barriers to participation in all aspects of society. So to promote the understanding of the issues of persons with disabilities and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of them, the United Nations decided to Observe the 3rd December of every year as International Day of People with Disability (IDPD). It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. It was originally called “International Day of Disabled Persons. Each year the day focuses on a different issue.This year was observed with theme of “Removing barriers to create an inclusive and accessible society for all”
