STAFF STRENGTH IN MINISTRY

Will the Minister of PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES AND PENSIONS be pleased to state:-

(a) the details of total sanctioned staff strength in various Ministries, group-wise i.e. Group A to Group D;

(b) out of the total strength, the number of jobs earmarked for SC/ST category as per Government of India`s reservation policy; and

(c) the reasons, for the staff strength not being in accordance with the reservation policy of Government of India?

ANSWER

Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office. (DR. JITENDRA SINGH)

(a): As per the Report of Directorate General of Employment & Training, Ministry of Labour & Employment, published in May, 2012, the group-wise strength of regular Central Government employees, as on 31.03.2009, was as under:-

(b) & (c): Reservation in Central Government jobs for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes employees is provided at the rate of 15% and 7.5%, respectively. As per information received from 59 Ministries/Departments/Central Government Offices, the representation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the Central Government Departments/Ministries, as on 1.1.2013, was 17.52% and 7.74%, respectively.
