As per 21 Dec 1998 Extraordinary Gazette issued by DOP&T, upper age limit for general candidates is 27, for OBC; it is 30 and for SC /STs it is 32. Most of the Govt recruitments published in Employment News
specified the upper age limit as 25, 28 and 30 only. It is the duty of DOP&T to remind the concerned Ministries/Departments if they erred on upper age limit or on reservations. But DOP&T is mum on this issue.
Employee unions also sleep on this basic issue.
