How pay is fixed on MACP?

After the implementation of 7th pay commission recommendation, there are two annual increment dates are in force. Accordingly Pay fixation Option has to be exercised for getting higher benefit. Consequent upon issue of Office Memorandum dated 31.07.2018 different Ministries/ Departments have sought clarification on applicability of DOE’s O.M dated 31.07.2018 keeping in view the provisions of Rule 10 of CCS (RP) Rules 2016, Rule 22(1)(a)(1) of Fundamental Rules regarding next Annual Increment after Promotion /MACP

Accordingly it has been decided by the Government that a Govt Servant may be allowed the 1st increment in promotional grade on 1st January/ 1st July as the case may be after completion of 6 months’ qualifying service after such fixation on 1st July/1st January.Read this order for more details on fixation of Pay and granting of next annual increment after Promotion.

Pay fixation benefit can be calculated in both the options either on date of next increment or date of Promotion

MACP pay fixation example

1. Date of Promotion is different from Date of Increment. 

In this scenario, There are two options are there for you to choose. You can choose option for pay fixation on either date of next Increment or date of Promotion. Based on the two results form this Calculator for Pay Fixation on Promotion, you can decide which option is beneficial. 

     2. Date of Promotion and date of Increment are same

In this Scenario, There is only one option for Pay Fixation is left before you. That is, Option for Pay fixation on date of Next Increment, though it happens to be your date of Promotion. The Pay fixation calculation is done accordingly.

.Since there is material change, it has also been approved that the employees who have been regularly promoted or granted financial up-gradation on or after 01.01.2016 and desire to exercise/re-exercise option for pay fixation under FR22(1)(a)(1) shall be given an opportunity to exercise or re-exercise of the options there under. Such an option shall be exercised within one month of issue of this O.M.

These instructions will be applicable with effect from 01.01.2016.
