ESIC to Provide Medical Treatment also through Tie-up Arrangement and Part Time Doctors in State Government Dispensaries and Hospitals
The Union Minister of Labour & Employment, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, has called upon for the co-operation between the State Governments and the Central Government for efficient administration of the ESI Scheme. He announced that decision for tie-up arrangement for providing primary and secondary Health Care under ESI Scheme, has been taken if such facilities are not available within 8 K.M of the dispensary and 25 K.M. of the Hospital.
The Minister also said that State Govt. may be allowed to appoint part time doctors for dispensaries and hospitals under the ESI Scheme. The expenditure on these part time doctors will be fully borne by the ESI Corporation. This will facilitate the State Govt. in providing the medical care under the Scheme to the beneficiaries. Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, was speaking while inaugurating the new ESIC Divisional Office at Gulbarga (Karnataka) on 10.07.2010.
The Minister of Labour, Govt. of Karnataka, Shri B.N. Bacchegowda, presided over the function. Addressing the public meeting he called upon the ESIC to extend the coverage of the Scheme to the plantation workers also. He applauded the role of Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Union Minister of Labour & Employment, in making ESI Corporation a vibrant organization and for channelizing the central funds for the utilization of the beneficiaries.
The ESIC Divisional Office, Gulbarga has been set-up for catering to the needs/demands of ESI Beneficiaries of this area and for monitoring, quick disposal of claims, grievances and to settle the issue of employers relating to recovery, andrefund of claims without any delay. This Divisional Office will exercise jurisdiction over Gulbarga, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Banahatti, Malked, Yadgir, Sedam, Kukunta, Raichur, Bellary, Hospet and Munirabad centres. The Branch Offices of ESI Corporation viz. Gulbarga, Shahabad, Bijapur and Bellary falls within the jurisdiction of this Divisional Office, Gulbarga. This Divisional Office serves more than 46,500 Insured Persons and 1100 factories and establishments of this Gulbarga region.
Recently, the foundation stone of a state-of-art ESIC Medical Education Complex at Gulbarga was also laid by Shri Mallikarjun Kharge, Minister of Labour & Employment. The Medical Complex will include ESIC Medical College, Dental College & Nursing College and 500 bedded ESIC Hospital.
