Media reports have been constantly speculating that the Modi government may credit Rs 2 lakh in the account of the government employees at one go.

According to CNBCtv18 : The Narendra Modi led government is expected to give dearness allowance (DA) arrears of 1.5 years or 18 months to the central government employees as a one-time settlement of Rs 2 lakh. The employees have been continuously demanding the withheld DA from January 2020 to June 2021.

News 18.com states : In what comes as a news to cheer for central government employees regarding the dearness allowance arrears, is that the Modi government can give DA arrears of 1.5 years i.e. 18 months to the employees at a single go, as a one time settlement of Rs 2 lakh .

18 Months DA Arrears Latest News actual status

After Central Government decided to release 3 instalments DA which were kept on hold for 18 months right from 1.1.2020, National Council JCM and other Employees federations started demanding to pay arrears for 18 Months. But the Central Government is maintaining its stand that said in the order issued to freeze the Dearness Allowance from 1.1.2020. It was said that No Arrears will be paid for the 18 Month Period from 1st January 2020 till 30th June 2021. The DoE OM dated the 23rd April, 2020 Para 2 states the following ,

As and when the decision to release the future instalment of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief due from 1st July 2021 is taken by the Government, the rates of Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief as effective from 1st January 2020, 1st July 2020 and 1st January 2021 will be restored prospectively and will be subsumed in the cumulative revised rate effective from 1st July 2021. No arrears for the period from 1st January 2020 till 30th June 2021 shall be paid.

Later when Govt decided to release the 3 DA instalments, the order issued by Department of Expenditure on 20.7.2021 states the following,

“Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees due from 01.01.2020, 01.07,2020 and 01.01.2021, were frozen and to say that the President is pleased to decide that the Dearness Allowance payable to Central Government employees shall be enhanced from the existing rate of 17% to 28% of the basic pay with effect from 1st July, 2021. The increase subsumes the additional instalments arising on 01.01.2020, 01.07.2020 and 01.01,2021. The rate of Dearness Allowance for the period from 01,01.2020 till 30,06.2021 shall remain at 17%,”
