Health Insurance Scheme for the Central Government employees and pensioners
SHRIMATI BIMLA KASHYAP SOOD:
Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) the healthcare facilities available for serving Central Government employees and pensioners in the States/cities where CGHS Dispensary facilities are not available;
(b) the scheme of the Central Government to provide health care facilities to them in view of the fact that large number of Central Government employees settle down in different parts of the country; and
(c) in absence of such arrangements, so far, whether Government is formulating any scheme?
ANSWER
(a) & (b): The serving Central Government employees in non-CGHS areas are provided healthcare facilities under CS(MA) Rules, 1944. Pensioners are not covered under these Rules. They are, however, entitled for the Fixed Medical Allowance of Rs. 300 per month. The pensioners residing in non-CGHS areas have the option to become a CGHS member in any CGHS covered city of their choice to avail the medical facilities under the Scheme.
(c): Yes. The Government is contemplating introduction of a Health Insurance Scheme for the Central Government employees and pensioners with special focus on Non-CGHS areas.

It is a fantastic plan but all to be included, even railways too.
Most of the retired employees are suffering from old aged diseases and are incurring huge expenditure from their pension amount. The medical allowance of Rs.300/- pm is a very meagre amount as compared to the actual expenditure incurred by those living in Non-CGHS facility States. Will the GOVERNMENT DO SOMETHING URGENTLY ?
It will be good and beneficial to all the Central Govt.employees serving/retired, if the above said Insurance Scheme is implement ed, the same may please be communicated to my above e-maill address.
NICE TO HEAR ABOUT NEW HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME FOR GOVERNMENT SERVANTS AND PENSIONERS. KINDLY SEND DETAILS TO MY EMAIL ADDRESS.
Sir,
Initiative to formulate action scheme for central govt employees and pensioners is a welcome step. However, such scheme if not implemented on ground obviously loose its value. For example Govt has created sub city Dwarka within our capital city Delhi. The planning for providing medical facility to its 6 lakhs residents is existing only on papers. Neither the Govt hospital proposed since long time nor any CGHS dispensary for CGHS card holders attached with are available on ground. Is there any use of paying heavy cost for such cards. It is not understood as to why such important projects are lagging behind for years together and no heed is being paid inspite of continuous efforts put in by the social workers/forms.

Respected Higher Authorities,
I, V. Rama Murthy, being a Central Government employee am expressing that the Insurance Medical Health Scheme may kindly be extended to all Central Government Employees instead of CGHS Scheme. My opinion is “The CGHS Scheme may be removed and the “Proposed Insurance Medical Health Scheme may be extended/implemented to all over India.
Your faithfully,
V. Rama Murthy
