SC/ ST Employees in Public Sector Undertakings

As per Public Enterprises Survey 2011-2012, there are 1,98,421 SC and 1,02,472 ST employees as on 1/1/2012 in the 214 Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). PSU-wise details are displayed on the website of the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) at www.dpe.nic.in .

Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha today, Shri Praful Patel, Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, said that DPE does not centrally maintain the year-wise vacant posts of SC & ST employees in the PSUs. However, Special Recruitment Drives are launched from time to time to fill up the vacant posts reserved for SCs & STs as per the directions of the Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.

Shri Patel also informed the House that DPE vide their O.M. No. 2(15)/2011-GM dated 18.4.2011 has communicated to all administrative Ministries/ Departments about the concern expressed by the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry for the representation of SC/ST and OBC and Women categories on the Board of CPSEs for necessary action in this regard.
