Uncertainty over Release of AICPIN for March 2024
The delay in publishing the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) data for February 2024 by the Labour Bureau has caused significant concern among employees, particularly those working in the Central Government and Public Sector Units. This data is crucial for calculating Dearness Allowance (DA) and Industrial Dearness Allowance (IDA), which directly impact employees’ earnings.
The lack of explanation from the Department regarding the delay has left many employees uncertain about their future financial situation.
Calculate Expected DA from July 2024
As of April 28th, the CPI-IW data for February 2024 is still awaited, which has hindered the calculation of IDA increase to be paid from April 1st, 2024. The delay in releasing this data has put the process of determining the expected IDA increase on hold. The Employees Federations shall take up this matter to the Government to direct the the Labour Bureau to release the necessary Price Index numbers.
