AICPIN for August 2024 and its impact on DA from January 2025
The Labour Bureau has released the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers AICPIN for August 2024, which stands at 142.6, showing a slight decrease from July’s 142.7. This figure will play a key role in determining the Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees, with the adjustment expected in January 2025.
Given the AICPIN trends over the past few months, the marginal drop in August could slightly affect DA projections for 2025. However, the overall inflation pattern seen earlier in the year suggests that the upcoming DA hike might still be significant. Based on current estimates, analysts are expecting an increase in DA in the range of 3-4% from January 2025. Check this DA Calculator
