Step-by-Step Guide to Calculate Expected DA

Get CPI-IW Values:

The DA is calculated based on the average CPI-IW values of the past 12 months, up to June or December of the previous year.

For the January 2025 DA, you would need CPI-IW data from January to December 2024.

Find the Average CPI-IW:

Add the CPI-IW values for the relevant 12 months (January to December 2024) and divide the sum by 12 to get the average CPI-IW.

DA Calculation Formula

Use the DA Calculation Formula to calculate the DA applicable to Central Government employees:

DA = (A x 2.88)- 261.42/261.42 x 100

Where “A” is the average CPI-IW for the previous 12 months and 2.88 is the linking factor for CPI Index as per the base year 2016=100
