Kapil Sibal stressed the need for improving service condition of Teachers

HRD Minister Kapil Sibal today stressed the need for improving service condition of teachers to attract best minds into the profession and ensure quality education to students, as he also sought to expand the role and scope of National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE).

“Shortage of quality faculty is a big problem today.

We have to look into this at the national level and take initiative at the state level. Recruitment process should be transparent, quality assurance should be there and teachers’ condition of service should be improved,” he said.

Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 15th foundation day celebration of NCTE, he said, unless issues like extending insurance, housing and health schemes, promotion avenues and career advancement are looked into, people will continue to shy away from the teaching profession

With improvement of service conditions of existing Aided staff of Colleges is welcomed and thanked but please consider the service conditions of existing Self-financing staff who do the same work for more than 15 to 20 years under the same roof but get nearly one-tenth of the salary of Aided staff while “Equal wage for equal work ” is our Fundamental right and the Supreme Court verdict substantiates it.Kindly consider,

While more and more perquisites are increased Aided staff please consider the plight of self-financed staff who do the same work for more than 15 years but get only nearly one-tenth of the salary of the Aided staff.
