The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, has taken a significant step towards ensuring the social security of part-time honorarium workers in the state. On August 25, 2023, he approved the draft of the ‘Rajasthan Part Time Contractual Hiring Rules-2023’, which includes a retirement assistance package for these workers.

Under the new rules, honorarium workers will receive a retirement benefits package ranging from Rs 2-3 lakh. This move highlights the state government’s commitment to providing proper protection and financial support to honorarium workers, such as Anganwadi workers, helpers, cooks, and farrash, who work on a part-time basis.

The retirement benefits will be given to workers who have completed the prescribed service period and are terminated, retire, or pass away. The draft has received the consent of the Cabinet, ensuring its implementation.

Retirement Benefits Under Rajasthan Part Time Contractual Hiring Rules-2023

According to the proposed scheme, honorarium workers will receive Rs 2 lakh after completing 10 years of service, Rs 2.50 lakh after 15 years, Rs 2.75 lakh after 20 years, and Rs 3 lakh after 25 years. Additionally, a retirement amount of Rs 3 lakh will be granted to personnel irrespective of their service period.

This retirement assistance package aims to provide financial security to honorarium workers who have contributed their services to the state for an extended period of time. It acknowledges their hard work and dedication by ensuring that they receive a substantial amount upon retirement.
