Revision of Rates of Allowances in Accordance with DA @ 50%

Following the increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) rate to 50%, the rates of certain allowances are also slated to be raised in accordance with the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC). There appears to be some confusion within certain departments regarding the notion that the rates of these allowances can only be increased once the DA surpasses the 50% mark.

In our article posted earlier on April 5, 2024, we clearly stated that once the Dearness Allowance (DA) reaches 50%, the rates of certain allowances should be increased without waiting for any specific order. Today, we have received from our sources a copy of an order of Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) informing Defence Establishments to take action for revising the rates of such allowances in accordance with the enhanced rate of DA at 50%, effective from January 1, 2024.

This HQrs is in receipt of Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure 10 No. 2/5/2017-E(8) dated 20.03.2004 on the above subject. The DoE has clarified that the position is very clear in the respective OMs and no separate order will be issued in the matter

Therefore, it is requested to take action for revision of rates of such allowances, in accordance with the enhanced rate of DA at the rate of 50% effective from 01.01.2024
