Shortage of Employees

Will the Minister of

PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES AND PENSIONS be pleased to state:-

(a) whether it is a fact that there is a severe shortage of employees due to non-filling of vacancies in various Central Government offices in the country;

(b) the details of existing vacancies in various categories of Central Government services, State/ UT-wise including in the State of Punjab;

(c) whether the efficient functioning of the various Government Departments are being adversely affected due to the non-filling of these vacancies and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government is taking any initiative to fill up all the vacancies in Central Govt Services in a time-bound manner; and

(e) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF PERSONNEL, PUBLIC GRIEVANCES AND PENSIONS AND MINISTER OF STATE IN THE PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE

(a) to (c): As per Annual Report of Pay Research Unit of Department of Expenditure 9,79,327 posts were vacant under various Ministries/Departments of the Central Government, as on 01.03.2021. Data is centrally maintained only in respect of employees of Central Ministries/ Departments.

(d) & (e): Occurrence and filling up vacancies is a continuous process, as per the requirement of various Ministries/Departments/Organizations of Central Government. Government has already issued instruction to all Ministries/ Departments for timely filling up of the unfilled posts. The Rozgar Melas being organized by Government of India are expected to act as catalyst in further employment generation and provide meaningful opportunities to the Youth for their empowerment and participation in National Development directly.
