How the MoH Order of 28.10.2022 Upgraded the Ward Entitlement for CGHS Beneficiaries in Private Hospitals

Despite the Department of Health & Family Welfare issuing an order on October 28, 2022, to revise and upgrade the Ward Entitlement for CGHS Beneficiaries in private hospitals empanelled under CGHS, there remains confusion regarding its implementation. Here’s an overview of the issues contributing to this confusion:

Lack of Clear Communication: Although the order aimed to upgrade ward entitlements, the details were not effectively communicated to all stakeholders. Beneficiaries and hospital administrators are unclear about the specifics of the changes, leading to inconsistent application.

Inconsistent Implementation: Not all empanelled private hospitals have uniformly adopted the revised ward entitlements. Some hospitals may not have updated their systems or trained their staff accordingly, resulting in beneficiaries receiving varying levels of care.

Beneficiary Awareness: Many CGHS beneficiaries may not be fully aware of the revised entitlements. This lack of awareness means that beneficiaries are not in a position to demand the upgraded ward facilities they are entitled to under the new order.

To address this confusion, the order of Department of Health & Family Welfare dated 28.10.2022 is reproduced below
