AICPIN FOR JUNE 2022 INCREASED BY 0.2 POINTS AND STOOD AT 129.2

The All-India CPI-IW for June, 2022 increased by 0.2 points and stood at 129.2 (one hundred twenty nine point two). On 1-month percentage change, it increased by 0.16 per cent with respect to previous month compared to an increase of 0.91 per cent recorded between corresponding months a year ago.
The maximum upward pressure in current index came from Food & Beverages group contributing 0.20 percentage points to the total change. At item level Potato, Onion, Tomato, Cabbage, Apple, Banana, Coriander, Chilly Dry, Fish Fresh, Poultry Chicken, Vada, Idli Dosa, Cooked Meal, Cooking Gas, kerosene Oil, Electricity Domestic etc. are responsible for the rise in index. However, this increase was largely checked by Petrol for Vehicle, Rice, Mango, Chilli Green, Lemon, Lady Finger, Parwal, Pineapple, Soyabeen Oil, Sunflower Oil etc. putting downward pressure on the index.
With this All India consumer price index number AICPIN for June 2022, the expectation to know the exact rate of DA from July 2022 has come to an end.
AICPIN for June 2022 – All India Consumer Price Index CPI for the Month of June 2022
There was an increase of 1.3 Points in the last month AICPIN and stood at 129.0 Points for May 2022. The AICPIN for June 2022 increased by 0.2 Points . Three months i.e December 2021, January 2022 and February 2022 have witnessed decreases by 0.3, 0.3 and 0.1 Points respectively during the period from July 2020 to June 2021. But from AICPIN march 2022 the CPI Number is increasing 1 point and above consistently. Hence its is expected this month also will increase. But only 0.2 points increased.See the table below.

Impact of June 2022 AICPIN on July 2022 DA
What will be expected DA in July 2022?
As we told that the increase in AICPIN for this month will be around 1 Point. In that case it will not have any impact on the expected DA increase from July 2022. Because according to the AICPIN average up to May 2022, it is predicted that the expected DA July 2022 will increase by 4 % and stand at 38%. To change this prediction, it requires 6 Points increase in AICPIN. It is quite obvious that there is no chance for that. As per the DA calculator provided here, the rate of DA for July 2022 is now confirmed 38 % with 4% hike even the AICPIN for June 2022 gets above 0.2 point increase.

AICPIN for June 2022 Released
The Labour Bureau, an attached office of the M/o Labour & Employment, has been compiling Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers every month on the basis of retail prices collected from 317 markets spread over 88 industrially important centres in the country. The index is compiled for 88 centres and All-India and is released on the last working day of succeeding month.
The index for the month of June, 2022 is being released in this press release.
